USBC Update

Yesterday, Pete Licata from Honolulu Coffee Company triumphed over baristas from Verve and Intelligentsia to become the Western Regional United States Barista Champion. The breakdown of the scoring is as follows:
1st Place- Pete Licata; Honolulu Coffee Co.: 705 points
2nd Place- Ryan Willbur; Intelligentsia Coffee: 681.5 points
3rd Place- Chris Baca; Verve Coffee Roasters: 655 points
4th Place- Jared Truby; Verve Coffee Roasters: 649.5 points
5th Place- Devin Pedde; Intelligentsia Coffee: 633.5 points
6th Place- Sara Peterson; Verve Coffee Roasters: 632.5 points


Keep up on the action at the USBC Website. The Next Competition is at the Meadowlands in New Jersey and will feature 22 baristas competing from cities such as Washington DC, New York City, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia. Here's a breakdown of the winners so far:

MidWest Regional: Michael Marquard of Kaldi's Coffee
South Central Regional: Lorenzo Perkins of Caffe Medici
Mountain Regional: Greg Lefcourt of Ozo Coffee
Southeast Regional: Lem Butler of Counter Culture Coffee

Mid-Atlantic Regional: March 5-7
Great Lakes Regional: March 12-14
Northeast Regional: March 19-21
Semi-Finals: May 2-5 in Minneapolis, MN
World Barista Championship: June 23-25
