The World Barista Championships (WBC) is the olympics of coffee and is held annually throughout the world. This year, the event will be held from June 23 through June 25 in London, England. The United States Barista Championship (USBC) is the regional qualifier for the U.S. and since I am an American (cliche?), I feel inclined to cover it loosely. Therefore, below are the dates of the competition for the U.S. regions still left to compete and the winners of the U.S. regional competitions for those who have already competed.
South Central Regional: Lorenzo Perkins of Caffe Medici
Mountain Regional: Greg Lefcourt of Ozo Coffee
Southeast Regional: Lem Butler of Counter Culture Coffee
Western Regional: February 26-28
Mid-Atlantic Regional: March 5-7
Great Lakes Regional: March 12-14
Northeast Regional: March 19-21
Semi-Finals: May 2-5 in Minneapolis, MN
